Readwise Chat my first impressions

Readwise is another application that has decided to introduce Artificial Intelligence. Unlike some other applications, it could offer awesome new functionality to what is already a key application in my knowledge management toolkit.

In this article, I want to explore its capabilities and how I see myself using it in the future.

What is Readwise, and how will an Artificial Intelligence chatbot improve the application?

Readwise is an application that acts as a library, storing all your digital notes from many different digital sources. For myself, it contains notes taken on Kindle, Snipd, and Readwise’s own Reader app. But I consider it to be such a killer application because it syncs with many note-taking applications, including Obsidian, which I use. You can learn more about Readwise in my review.

How I will be using Readwise Chat in the future

I don’t think I will use Readwise chat that often, as it isn’t the heart of my system. Most of my knowledge management work occurs in Obsidian.

The bulk of my notes come from external sources, and the bulk of my external sources are digital. They will come into my Obsidian vault from Readwise.

It takes me time to process my incoming notes and create the permanent and literature notes that populate my Zettelkasten. Due to this, not all my notes are available to the Large Language Model community plugin I use in Obsidian.

Therefore, there will be times when I want to question the bulk of my digital notes, and Readwise chat will be the ideal tool for that.

Conclusion

The main reason I will continue to subscribe to Readwise is its ability to retrieve the notes I take on various platforms, including Kindle, Snipe, Medium, and the Readwise Reader app, into one location and then deliver my highlights to Obsidian for further processing.

The ability to chat with all the notes stored in this vast warehouse will add more value to the cost of the subscription.
