Notion pricing changes December 2022

Just before Christmas, I received an email from Notion because I paid an annual subscription for the Notion personal pro plan. It made me take a fresh look as they had added new functionality to the Notion free tier and had removed the personal pro plan. Would it be enough to allow me to save some money during a cost-of-living crisis?

Notion personal price plans

As I currently use Notion as an individual, it was a surprise to see that the personal pro plan was being discontinued, with all the functionality at that tier being included in the free plan for individuals.

I was subscribed to Notion on the personal pro plan, which, as stated in the paragraph above, has been discontinued. My account is now on the Plus plan, but with a one-person limited, and the cost has remained the same. This has certainly given me something to think about.

For most individual Notion users, the free plan is likely to be enough, with seven days of page history allowing you to recover any mistakes you make to a page with unlimited blocks for individual use.

The only possible limitation I can see relates to synchronised databases currently in beta, especially if the functionality allows you to sync a Notion database, such as your task list, with Google calendar.

You can find out more about the current Notion pricing plans on the Notion pricing plan page.

Conclusion

Notion’s pricing plan appears to be about attracting individuals who will use the application to help them manage their personal lives. Some of these individuals will be working on side projects, which may or may not become a business which will hopefully continue to grow.

Like myself, I use Notion to manage this website’s tasks, projects and content schedule. The original layout for this post was created on the page for this piece of content in the content schedule.

If I didn’t write content on Notion, I would cancel my subscription and move back to the free tier. It offers me unlimited team blocks, and I might want to write content on team blocks. I will be keeping this under constant review.
