My first thoughts on Mem

I have been looking at Mem during the last month or so. I have written this article on my thoughts on using Mem. I’m constantly looking to improve my productivity, and the note-taking system and Mem looked like an interesting option. Will I look to add Mem to my current productivity process?

Has mem.ai has now come out of beta. I have now written a review of mem.ai

What is Mem

Mem is a note-taking application that appears to be in early release. This is why I have decided not to write a full review and why I have written my thoughts on the application as it is still in development and is likely to change before its full release.

I noticed that Mem is that the application tracks the notes chronologically. At least in my experience, this is a new twist in a note-taking application.

The mem application allows you to define different areas for your notes by using tags, and you can filter your notes by the tags.

The mem application also has the functionality to allow you to add notes by either email or SMS text messages. Was this functionality added to Mem not having a dedicated mobile application?

My big concern with the mem application is that they are making a big point about the notes being searchable as if it was the application’s unique selling point. As someone who uses Notion and Obsidian, I would expect a note-taking application to have good search functionality.

Conclusion

I found Mem easy to use with a well-designed user interface which I enjoyed using. I also liked the chronological system, which I can see as beneficial to those who want to track when you created the notes. Maybe as some journal.

I think Mem is currently too lightweight a note-taking application for me to consider replacing Obsidian or Notion with Mem. Don’t let that put you off if you are looking for a lightweight note-taking system.
