If you currently use Google Backup & Sync on a PC. You have likely received a system prompts advising you that the Backup & Sync is being retired. And that you will need to replace it with Google Drive for desktop.
In this guide. I will take you through the steps I followed to replace Google backup & Sync with Google Drive on my PC running Windows 10. Please note that you make any changes to your computer system at your own risk.
- Download Google drive from Google Drive desktop.
- Click yes when Windows ask if you want the installer to make any changes to your computer.
- Select which application shortcuts you want to setup then click next
- Follow the prompt and sign into your Google account via a web browser
- Return to the installer click next and select the folders you want to sync.
- Google Drive for desktop has now been installed. The installer will prompt you to remove backup & sync. Click ok to remove.
- Click yes when prompted by windows about making any changes
- Google backup & sync has now been removed
