Grammarly Review 2024

I last reviewed Grammarly in 2021, and it is about time that I wrote a new review, as Grammarly has changed a lot in the last three years.

I pay for the personal licence of Grammarly because, as a writer, I need to ensure that my content is as readable as possible. My grammar is not the best, and any tool that helps me is a necessity.

Grammarly is an AI-powered tool that will check your spelling and grammar and offer suggestions for word choices and sentence structure improvements. However, you do have to be careful with the latter tools. While extremely useful, they can change the meaning of your words and potentially alter your writing voice, a potential issue for someone wanting to be a writer.

Personal Experience of using Grammarly

I’ve been using Grammarly since 2021, and overall, it has helped me improve my writing. It has become more helpful over time as new functionality, such as suggestions for alternative words and suggestions to improve readability, has been added. This has helped me improve my writing over the years, all with the aim of making this blog more engaging.

But Grammarly has also become more frustrating to use, and you do have to be careful when editing your writing with it. Firstly, you need to be careful as Grammarly will, at times, suggest the use of words that would change the meaning of what I’m writing.

What is increasingly frustrating is that you often have to dismiss the same suggestion over and over again. This really does annoy me as I feel that Grammarly is constantly nagging at me.

But when all things are considered the benefits of using Grammarly significantly outweigh the downsides.
