Google calendar review 2022

Millions of us use Google calendar for managing our own personal calendars, but is it any good? A question I plan to answer based on my experiences of using the Google calendar web application and the mobile Android application.

The benefits of using Google Calendar

The biggest strength of Google Calendar is that it works across platforms, with mobile apps available on all platforms and on the web. I would prefer to have a Windows application.

The other advantage of using Google calendar is that due to its popularity, other calendar apps such as Cron and Morgen, which I have been trying recently. You can expect to see my review of these applications shortly. It offers the flexibility you to create and access your appointments and events on Google calendar on your mobile phone and a third-party party application on your PC.

I also like the ability with Google calendar to set up reminders for important appointments, which uses the Android alert system. The only issue is that alerts and emails are the default section meaning that you will get alerts and emails for less important events if you forget to double them.

What could Google Calendar do better?

My biggest dislike with Google calendar shows just how good an application it is. It could do with a more extensive palette of colours to define specific categories of appointments or events. I’m also disappointed that you can’t label the available colours for a particular category.

As I have mentioned elsewhere, a Windows application would be good, so I don’t have to use the web application.
