Capitalism Lab Subsidiary DLC

The Capitalism Lab subsidiary DLC was the first DLC published for Capitalism Lab. This article will look at the changes the Capitalism Lab Subsidiary DLC changes make to the game.

How Capitalism Lab Subsidiary DLC changes the Capitalism Game

The largest number of changes that the Subsidiary DLC brought to the Capitalism Lab game was the introduction of creating subsidiary companies. A subsidiary company is a company which another company owns. An example of this in the real world is Google being a subsidiary of Alphabet. You can find out more about subsidiary companies in Capitalism Lab in our guide.

The player can start a new subsidiary company at any time. The player can also choose to subsidise a company instead of taking over the company you own a specific percentage of a rival company’s shares.

The Subsidiary DLC also enables you to start a new game as a private company which you can then make private later, allowing you to raise capital when it is beneficial for your company.

You can even specify that some competitor AI companies start the game as privately owned company.

Other notable changes within Capitalism Lab Subsidiary DLC

The most significant change that the Subsidiary DLC brought to the base Capitalism Lab game is the addition of up to 3 multiple floors in a shop. Allowing up to 12 items to be sold in a store compared to 4 in the base game which is a massive improvement

The Subsidiary DLC also introduced the ability to create a radical Research and Development Unit, which I have to admit is something I can’t remember coming across before, but it sounds interesting.

Conclusion

So the Subsidiary DLC added these main features to the base Capitalism Lab DLC game.

  • Creation and management of subsidiary companies
  • Player and AI owned private companies
  • Multiple sale floors increasing the number of items sold in a shop from 4 to 12
  • Radical Research and Development
