Amazon Prime Video review

Today I’m reviewing the Amazon Prime video streaming service. I’m not considering any other aspect of Amazon Prime as I live in the UK; this review is based on my experiences of using Amazon Prime video here in the UK. I have used Amazon prime video on my Sony XJ85 television and my Amazon fire cube.

Amazon Prime Video Price

Here in the UK, Amazon Prime membership which includes access to Amazon Prime Video is £8.99 a month or £95 a year.

Amazon Prime Video Picture quality

Picture quality is up to 4K UHD with some programming in HDR, with a few programs being available in Dolby Vision.

The quality displayed on Amazon Prime Video doesn’t always appear to be what you receive. Last week I watched John Wick 3, which was available in UHD and HDR, but it was being streamed in HD. To ensure it wasn’t anything to do with my setup, I played a bit of the wheel of time, which played back in UHD and with Dolby Vision.

Amazon Prime Video Recommendations

As we have all experienced, Amazon is very good at recommending things you might want to buy from the Amazon website.

So why can’t Amazon suggest programmes I want to watch on Amazon Video prime? I only see a generic list of programming, much of which is of no interest to me.

Amazon Prime User experience

I find the Amazon Prime user Interface to be functional, but it could be a lot better as it isn’t easy to navigate.

Amazon being Amazon, the service provides free programming as part of your membership and content, which you can purchase. Sometimes I find it confusing to know what is included in my subscription and which content isn’t.
